Covert Surveillance for your SecurityHidden Spy Cameras For Professional and Law Enforcement Surveillance
by Bruce on Jun.16, 2009, under Uncategorized
Hidden cameras by definition do their best work when no one can tell there is a camera watching them. No one is more famous for this kind of stuff than James Bond or Tom Cruise in the “Mission Impossible” movies.
Private Investigators and law enforcement agencies worldwide have been using hidden cameras for years with great success. More recently businesses have been using hidden cameras with great success as well.
There was a craze on NBC especially of using a hidden camera to try and catch on-line predators of underage girls who are actually undercover female police officers. I guess it makes for good TV even for NBC. Couldn’t get into it myself and dislike the peacock network immensely-another story.
Hidden cameras have a long and glorious history in spy agencies like the CIA and regular governmental law enforcement agencies on the local, state and federal levels. They all discovered long ago the power of an audio and video record of wrongdoing in legal proceedings.
It provides irrefutable evidence of what happened. It is powerful evidence-maybe the best. Let’s face it they can’t be everywhere 24/7 so hidden cameras provide another set of eyes for them.
For many applications a surveillance camera or system is fine and can do a great job. When you need an undercover application nothing is as good as a hidden spy camera.
They come disguised as many items that are a common as the day is long.
There are thirteen models that have built in DVR’s-ten that are stationary and three that are portable. The ten stationary models include an exit sign that is perfect for any retail, business, and warehouse or office situation. The others include an alarm clock, boom box, tower fan, desk lamp, two wall clocks, an electrical outlet, an air purifier, and lastly an air freshener.
These all are ultra easy to use. Basically point and start recording with a remote. Then to playback use the SD card in your computer or the RCA cable to your TV.
These three high tech tools are the perfect solution for the professional Private Investigator or undercover law enforcement official. They also are the answer for any situation that demands a solution like a domestic violence dispute or office harassment situation.
Covert Surveillance - Shoplifiting Prevention
by Bruce on Jun.16, 2009, under Uncategorized
Call them what you will: Loss Prevention, Assets Protection, Security, or Store Detectives. The larger your store, the more you need to protect your assets from shoplifting. Shoplifting costs businesses millions of dollars every year. Protection is important, but if your customers feel like they’re being watched, they’ll feel uncomfortable and shop elsewhere. While a visual deterrent will make dishonest shoppers think twice about stealing, if you’re interested in catching thieves, your surveillance will need to be covert. While a great camera system and trained observers can be an excellent way to detect shoplifting, the expense of such a surveillance camera system can be cost prohibitive. So what is a business owner to do? You can have covert surveillance without an expensive camera system by hiring a store detective.
To be effective, a store detective must blend in with your customers. The first step is to match the dress of your typical customers. It could be casual or formal, or somewhere in between. Another technique to blend in is to actually shop. Looking at and carrying merchandise is important. However, shoplifters know what to look for. Store detectives often carry underwear or socks and small electronic merchandise. So store detectives should avoid carrying these types of merchandise. The most reliable way to spot a shoplifter is to look at their eyes. Shoplifters don’t want to be noticed, so they will look around to see who’s watching. But it is important not to make eye contact, because a shoplifter will feel like he’s been noticed.
Once a detective notices a suspicious activity, a common reaction is to startle or jump. It’s a common physical reaction, but it must be tempered in order to avoid detection. Another thing to avoid is tunnel vision. Inexperienced store detectives often lose sight of the bigger picture and focus only on what’s right in front of them. Shoplifters often have accomplices that stay back in order to spot store detectives. A detective should always keep her eyes open for people who are watching what she is doing. Another type of accomplice is a decoy. Decoys will act overly suspicious, or create a disturbance, in order to draw the attention of store detectives while another person does the actual shoplifting. Some shoplifting rings have been known to send a decoy into a store to defecate on the floor in order to draw the attention of store associates, store detectives and customers…in other words, to draw everyone’s attention.
Another thing that store detectives must avoid is stereotypes. Picture a shoplifter in your head. Do you see a teenager completing a dare by stealing lipstick? Maybe you see a dirty homeless person, or a minority. Did you know that the average professional shoplifter is a middle-aged, conservatively dressed white male? While there may be more teenagers stealing, the impact on your profits will be considerably less than a professional shoplifter. So make sure that you are training your store detectives to look at everyone in the same way when doing surveillance.
If you can’t afford a state-of-the-art camera system, then hiring and training a quality store detective for surveillance is a cost effective solution. Make sure they blend in by dressing like your customers, avoiding eye contact and actually shopping. Avoiding the startle reaction and tunnel vision is important as well. Finally, avoiding stereotypes will round out your effective store surveillance detective.

Wearable Spy Cameras
by Bruce on Jun.16, 2009, under Uncategorized
While spy cameras can be used by anyone, wearable spy cameras usually serve the purposes of law enforcement. These little unnoticeable cams are ideal for private investigators, cover surveillance, and secret agents but this doesn’t mean that they are not available to the public. Several companies launched models buyable by regular people.
Nearly everyone has seen a James Bond movie and remembers the high tech cameras inside pens or glasses. This is no longer a dream. Specialized shops sell spy cameras perfectly hidden inside sunglasses, pagers, pens, and other everyday items. Wearable spy cameras are also found in several other items as well. They can be attached to a helmet, for example, to record a bike ride or parachute jump. Such cameras come with added features like being waterproof, small or lightweight. There is also the possibility of having a camcorder in your backpack and a lens mounted on your hat that can record events without being held.
Of all the possible types of wearable spy cameras available to the public the most appreciated are the concealed ones, such as a pen camera. They are very easy to hide since people usually don’t look for them. Hidden in plain sight, such cams will record important evidence, like a testimony, or just about anything one might want to record with or without the people involved giving permission. Problems can arise if subjects don’t consent to being filmed, but it doesn’t matter in many instances, such as catching a cheating spouse.
Whether someone wants to do a little espionage, have fun, or take pictures where regular cameras are restricted, a wearable spy camera is perfect.
Hidden Spy Camera - How To Make Money With The Down View Smoke Detector
by Bruce on Jun.16, 2009, under Uncategorized
Did you ever watch the Gene Hackman 1998 thriller “Enemy of the State”? Gene plays a disenfranchised ex NSA/CIA-er who gets roped into helping a young attorney played by Will Smith whose life is going down the tubes courtesy of Jon Voight who plays a corrupt bureaucrat.
Somewhere near the end of the movie a down view smoke detector hidden camera is discovered in an office of a politician. Maybe the only star role of the camera ever. Back on topic.
How the heck can a smoke detector hidden make you money you ask? I used to be in the restaurant biz in my other life and know the temptations employees have when it comes to money and food-both in good supply at a busy restaurant. This principle applies to any business that accepts cash-GOSH THAT’S EVERYONE.
Cashiers have an almost irresistible urge to steal. They are usually way underpaid (they think) are work to hard (they think). They are usually the brunt of complaints from customers and somehow get the feeling that the biz owner owes them. So they take it upon themselves to dip into the till occasionally or more often.
If as a business owner or store manager you think all your employees are honest you need a reality check-it just ain’t so. What can you do to keep them more honest and make more money or better keep the money that is yours?
Easy! Install a down view smoke detector hidden camera right over the cashier/checkout stand in your biz. It will keep you up to speed when you are not there. With some software you can watch from anywhere in the world. How cool is that? This way you will keep the money that is rightfully yours.

A Self Contained Spy Camera Can Make Covert Surveillance Easy
by Bruce on Jun.16, 2009, under Uncategorized
The creation of the self contained spy camera has made surveillance more efficient and effective than ever before. With one of these cameras, there’s no end to the number of previously unanswerable questions that you can now answer. Everybody has his or her own example of a time when a spy camera would have come in handy. Have you ever suspected that a crime was going to be committed and wished you had a way to catch the criminal in the act? Have you ever wondered just what sort of critter is getting into your trashcan at night? Have you ever wondered if your employees really work as hard when you leave the office as they do when you’re there with them? With the use of a self contained spy camera, you can finally answer all these questions.
In so many situations, the things that we see do not accurately represent the way that things really are. People naturally put on different faces for different situations, showing the face that they think is most appropriate. Most of us never get to witness the way somebody acts when they think nobody is looking. There’s a wealth of information that is always hidden behind closed doors and a lot of that information can be extremely useful. For example, if you want to know how a nanny treats your kids when you’re not there, or if you have a parent or grandparent in a care facility and suspect that the caregivers are less kind when nobody is looking, there can be nothing more useful than the ability to see inside that room without being there. There are countless other situations where a spy camera can be the perfect tool.
Most of us, at least once, have been asked the question: “If you could have any super-power, which would it be?” For some reason, the most common answer to this question is invisibility. Most people wish they had the power to see into places without being seen, to see what people are saying and doing when they don’t think that they’re being watched. Well, so far, the invisibility cloak has not yet been invented, but the hidden camera can show you what it feels like to have the power to see what goes on in a space where people believe that they can’t be seen.
Now, more than ever, a spy camera can be a great way to gain information. In the old days of covert surveillance, hidden cameras didn’t have the capability to record by themselves; they had to send their video feed to a DVR or VCR, either by wireless transmitter or through a cable. Now, with new technologies that allow a DVR to be smaller than ever before, self contained spy cameras can be built with the DVR included in the body of the camera. The video footage is recorded onto an SD card inside the camera. This SD card can then be plugged into a card reader, just like the SD card for a digital camera. With a modern self contained spy camera, which can come in the form of a small alarm clock or an air freshener, all you need to do is plug it into the wall and it’s ready to record by itself.
There are other reasons why modern spy cameras are more efficient than ever before. One of the best features of these cameras is that they can be set to record based on motion detection. With this feature, when you set up your camera to catch that critter getting into your trash can at night, you can avoid taking hours and hours of footage of nothing happening. Instead, with a spy camera activated by motion detection, the video you watch in the morning will contain footage of the pest in action and nothing else. Or when you set up the camera to capture that hand that has been sneaking into the cookie jar, the only video that will be recorded will be that one bit of incriminating footage that you need.
Luckily, as the technological ingenuity of self contained spy cameras has increased, the price has decreased. So, while you wait for those invisibility cloaks to make it past the drawing board, there is an affordable and effective way for you to gain access to all of the information that has until now remained hidden behind closed doors.
Choose A Nanny Cam
by Bruce on Jun.16, 2009, under Uncategorized
Choosing a nanny cam is not as simple as it first may seem. Most nannies today are most likely to expect the bear nanny cam, which happens to be a big seller in many spy camera stores. The bear can sit on a shelf and is not meant to be played with. They are inexpensive and can be accessed from a computer or record on to a VCR for later viewing.
Many households with nannies might opt for the wireless nanny cam that are small and fit anywhere in the childs room, such as inside a knickknack, a book, diaper wipes just make sure the nanny is not using the last one piggy banks or a different stuffed animal, anything setting on a shelf she will not use or touch.
The nanny video camera also needs to be placed in other areas of the house in which the children and nanny spend a great deal of time. One of these rooms would be the family room, where the television is kept and the nanny camera could be hidden in a VHS tape or DVD or the recorders they have and still be working models. Books are also popular places to hide wireless video cameras. Anything the nanny would not think to disturb, something private, or yours that she would not think to handle would make a great place to hide one. All the nanny cams can also be routed to one computer or VCR for viewing.
How do you watch the nanny and your child when they go on outings, like to the park or play dates, the zoo and so forth? There are nanny cams that go in backpacks and can be hooked onto the stroller as a toy that is permanently attached to the stroller so that your child does not play with the toy. You might tell the nanny its a good luck charm or something your child likes to have attached to the stroller.
Choosing the right nanny cam is almost as important as choosing the right nanny for your child. You don’t want something that they will discover because then you will not know their true behavior in front of your child and you. You want something that will go undetected and be inconspicuous as well. That is why the teddy bears, as seen all over the news and movies may not be the best idea nowadays. It might have outlived its usefulness.
One survey stated that nannies are not opposed to the nanny cams; they would just like to know about them before they are placed in the home. Some argue that that defeats the purpose because the nannies will not act natural if they know they are being watched. However, over time, they might forget about the nanny cam.
There are many reasons to use surveillance cameras in your household, such as the cleaning crew, the occasional house-sitter or watching your valuables while you are away, but the number one reason, reports the spy camera and surveillance shops, is child care providers.
